This recipe is from my grandma’ old cook book from 1950′ , it makes your gingerbread rich in flavour and super crispy. It is also theatrical to make, wait and see what happens when you put the bicarb soda in the warm mix!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup sugar
1/3 cup golden syrup
1/2 teaspoon ginger
2 teaspoons cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
150 gram butter
3/4 tablespoon bicarbonate soda
3 1/2 – 4 cups flour
Method:
1 Melt sugar, syrup in a pan and add ginger, cinnamon and cloves.
2 Take of heat and add bicarbonate soda.
3 Poor the warm mix over the butter in a mixing bowl.
4 Stir until the butter has melted then mix in the flour. Knead until you have a smooth dough.
5 Leave the mix in fridge to cool down 30-60 minutes. Just to make it easier for you when you bake it out.
6 Roll out the dough as thin as you can. Then take your baking shapes and cut out wished sizes and shapes for your gingerbreads.
7 Cook in oven 180 degrees for 8-10 min.
